Episode 65 – 2020 Bikes We Are Excited About

Today we are sharing what 2020 motorcycles we are excited about.

With the 2020 riding season upon us, we wanted to take a deeper look at what motorcycles we are excited to see and hopefully will have a chance to ride.

Each of us chose 3 bikes, and did not share them with each other, so we are all hearing these for the first time right now.

Let’s start with Justin:

Okay, now my turn:

1. 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R -
1301 CC
6 speed quick shift transmission
180 hp (claimed)
Dry weight: 417lbs (claimed)
Design Type: Naked Sport
Extras: Ride modes, cornering ABS, traction and wheelie controls, fully adjustable pegs, shifter, and brake.
Price: $18k
I have always loved the super duke’s style, and in my opinion, this is probably the sexiest naked bike out there. It is stupid light and insanely powerful, so I just know that this thing will get me in trouble, which makes me want to ride one even more. My favorite part on this bike, and with all naked bikes really is the exposed frame tubes. The KTM keeps their signature orange powder coating, and with the bike in black trim, the frame simply stands out, like the hot person in a group of uglies (keeping it PC here). The biggest con for me is the pricing, though you are getting a high performance Euro bike for less than $20k, and with KTM’s reputation, you are getting a high quality product. So, yes, this bike might be out of reach for many folks, but at the same time, we pay $25k+ for our Harley baggers, so what do I know?

2. 2020 Yamaha VMAX

1700cc V4
5 speed transmission - major con; however, the gearing could be setup that you don’t need the 6th gear, but doubtful
683lbs wet weight
Shaft Driven
Price: $18k
I really like this bike as I feel it will be a good litmus test for the Harley -Davidson Bronx. I also like the styling, though I wish they had some other colors to choose from; although painting the bike would be super easy. I feel this bike also creates a great opportunity for someone to start customizing. Compared to other power cruisers out there, the pricing is actually lower than comparable bikes
X-Diavel - $21k
Rocket 3 - $22k
FXDR - $19k
Fat Bob 114 - $18.8k

3. 2020 Yamaha MT-09
850cc
Slipper Clutch
I have been a fan of the FZ and MTs for years, and I must admit, I love the MT-09 more than the 10 from a looks perspective. I know it doesn’t have the performance of the 10; however, there is enough power for me to have a blast with, get into trouble with, and kill myself doing something stupid.
